In-Service support is achieved within an ILS
Programme through the implementation of the Support system
designed during the early lifecycle stages, and the provision of
the services and resources as required to maintain the overall
capability. The movement from the Manufacturing phase to the
In-Service phase results in the moving of focus from development
activities to In-Service support. The management and
responsibilities of the delivery team may also change to better
address this changed focus.
The major activities surrounding In-Service Support fall into
the following four categories:
• Ensure support solution delivered..
• Manage change management.
• Monitor value for money against evolving use.
• Monitor performance against the contract..
A Configuration Control Management Committee (CCMC) will ensure:
• The delivered support is in accordance with the Support Contract.
• Usage, defects, training and technical information are monitored, managed and controlled.
• Trend analysis is carried out to identify potential modifications to improve reliability.
• Modifications
• Technological insertions to meet User requirements.
• Obsolescence is managed.
Periodic reviews of the Support Solution are conducted, using ILS principles, to ensure it remains the best value and optimised.
